Dr. Christos Aggelopoulos is a Principal Researcher at the Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences, Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH/ICE-HT) in Patras, Greece, where he also leads the Cold Plasma and Advanced Techniques for Improving Environmental Systems Laboratory (PlaNET). He earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Physics from the University of Patras, Greece, in 2002 and 2004, respectively, and completed his Ph.D. at the same University in 2007. Dr. Aggelopoulos has held research positions at the French Institute of Petroleum (IFPEN) in France, and Pierre et Marie Curie University – Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Paris, France. His research focuses on (i) developing plasma reactors/systems for diverse applications, (ii) optimizing plasma processes, (iii) plasma-catalysis, and (iv) characterizing plasma and plasma activated water. He is the author/co-author of 68 peer-reviewed journal articles, 80 conference proceedings, and holds one patent. Ranked among the World’s Top 2% Scientists in the Stanford list for 2023 and 2024, he also received the 2nd Prize for Applied Research in the 3rd “Greece Innovates!” Applied Research & Innovation Competition (2016). He is Editorial Board (EB) Member of Technologies (MDPI). Since 2018, Dr. Aggelopoulos has supervised/co-supervised 16 master’s students, 5 Ph.D. candidates, and collaborated with 4 postdoctoral researchers. He has been involved in over 25 European and National projects and, since 2018, has participated in nine research programs, serving as Coordinator or Principal Investigator (PI) in seven of them.
